25 decades later, Johnny Hard cash fan searches for misplaced photo with new music legend

Frank Davis is on a quest to obtain proof of his very first, and only, experience with his idol, Johnny Funds.

It was Great Friday in 1993 when the musician from St. John’s ran into the Gentleman in Black at the Halifax airport.

A stranger with a digicam snapped a photo of the pair, but 25 a long time later, Davis still has not seen the graphic and he’s hoping the electrical power of social media will reunite him with the mystery photographer.

“The female who took that image could be living on the future street from me or she could be in Timbuktu. You have no way of figuring out,” reported Davis, who set a contact out on Fb over the weekend. “I know it is really a lengthy time, that’s 25 a long time, so the chances are rather trim, but it is out there anyway.”

Davis is a big Dollars admirer, so when The Highwaymen arrived to Halifax in 1993, it was an prospect he could not move up.

The day just after the concert, Davis had to return home for get the job done, but his wife stayed behind to stop by her sister.

“The last thing that she stated to me as I still left the resort place was, ‘Leave the digicam with me because I want to consider a photo of [her sister] Susan’s baby.'”

That’s how Davis ended up digicam-less in entrance of Cash at the arrivals terminal.

When Davis noticed him standing alone on the sidewalk, “I just about ran around men and women finding off the bus,” he explained with a chortle.

“When I walked up to him, I said, ‘Man I’ve been waiting a prolonged time to shake your hand.'”

Davis asked a lady who was standing nearby to take a photograph, and handed her his company card so she could ship it to him.

He thinks she made use of a film digicam, but other than that, he is aware almost nothing about her.

“Possibly she has that photo, it’s possible she shed the small business card and has normally wondered, ‘My god, I never ever received that picture to that gentleman. I question who he is.'”

Around the years Davis has wondered, also. But it was not right up until he read about a fellow Newfoundlander who was reunited with his grandfather’s championship boxing belt that he turned to social media for assist.

Davis has been actively playing audio because he was a teen, and regularly performs Johnny Cash songs at open mics all over St. John’s.

“Johnny Cash, you know, he was just a different country audio singer, but he was various than the others. He experienced a distinct philosophy on daily life,” he reported.

And what seriously irks him is that he has a close friend who also took place to fulfill Funds.

“He retains telling me about it, and he has a major photograph hanging around his mantle piece of him and Johnny Money, so I stated, I’ve received to get my picture!”
